Pirates are having a rougher time catching people when they can slipspace right past. In order to balance it out, make slipspace tougher to traverse, like Warhammer-40k's Immaterium. Adding phantoms, random events that rip pieces of the ship off, collisions with blocks more explosive, or simply a chance of getting tossed out of slipspace without any rhyme or reason, would be obstacles in the way of the destination. @Devs code now please I'm brilliant but am putting this here now because I have so many brilliant thoughts I forget some of them.
